Little Fayoumis, Nephew

Tears, cheers, and haircuts

Someone got grounded from "everything" (in practice, turned out to be anything involving a CRT-like screen -- games, tv, movies, watching other people do same) last night because he lied to Mommy about having finished supper. (Say that you can't take the boiled cabbage, you may wind up having to have a few token bites; lie about it, get grounded.) Much with the kaboom. Glad I wasn't at ground zero for that one.

Little Fayoumis, Nephew

A very good sign in a child

The Little Fayoumis revealed to me the other day that the reason he wasn't fond of the childcare place at the women's center was that he thought it was completely lousy for a school -- it only had toys and TV, and so he did not learn anything. After I pointed out that it wasn't supposed to be school for him, it was supposed to be so he could chill and hang out while I was having my class, he was OK with it.

I discussed it with votania last night, and we came to the happy conclusion that the Little Fayoumis will be the first one to kick up a fuss if he isn't learning anything in school. This is a good thing.
