running, bomb tech

The life

Called V (the owner of the car I've been carsitting) Thursday night to confirm pickup plans. She'd been scheduled to come back home today. However, her plans got changed on her. So I talked her battery down while grocery shopping.

Tonight I got to go on break at 6, and dinner fairly disappeared. So I called her just to check in, because I thought she'd need a friendly voice again. (She's dealing with Family.) There's not really much you can say to someone with a relative who is barely alive because modern medicine can keep them alive, the cause of their illness is mere age, and the joy has gone out of life. "I hope [the] passing is peaceful" hardly touches on it.

She'll be back next Friday, the 2nd of June.

I'm hoping to get 4th June off, in celebration of Birthday. Work already promised me a great present, though, so I won't be complaining (too much) if I can't get the day off. There is plot to have a potluck to celebrate Cinderella's birthday. Date of the potluck? The 4th. *grin*

Working in the morning and celebrating with Darkside in the afternoon wouldn't be too bad of a way to spend the day.

Work is offering crazy overtime. I just might take some of it, if there's any left on Sunday afternoon. I'll be running jobs Saturday and Sunday, so I'll know just how much energy I have left over. But it's the last Sunday with the car...

Have trimmed the paperwork at the end of the shift down to the bare minimum. I still have to deal with the paperwork from the phone goons, but it feels like a lot less to do now that I can pull a few things, plug them into a spreadsheet, and have three different reports generated for me, and some more stuff calculated to copy. (Have not yet figured out how to get it to print sweetly. Shall work on that.)

Came home to cheesecake and strawberries. Hooray cheesecake and strawberries. Before stepping in, though, I took a detour to the fitness center and did a few minutes on the funkystairstepper, because it's been a while since I've had the time, and I deserve a little proper relaxation like that.

You know you may have been working too hard when working out becomes a treat to look forward to at the end of the day if you get out early enough. But with the UnF Spreadsheet, I may get out earlier than usual on a regular basis.

The name of the other spreadsheet is officially "TPS Report" now. Ha! We did it! Hooray Pink Shirt Guy!

Developed method of looking up the phone numbers of someone's interviews, for use on correction form. Go, me. Go, pretty phone goon girl who sometimes does switchboard, for giving me the idea.

The system. Is down.

So I leave for a break and the system goes down. Wow.

Either it's bad, or I'm good. Or something. Either I
go on break and it busts, or I come back from break
and it busts. Either way, it's coincidence. Right? ;)

Software, dammit.

I develop finesse with view/control VNC sessions.
Cunning use of alt+tab and other control keys!

I'm not sure what is acting up, but people are getting
into states where they cannot get calls, and it takes
me manually unwedging them to get them getting calls.
This bloody well annoys me, and I want to ask Dave
Matthews Band Fan Geek wtf is up with all that.

Will call Darkside after the shift ends. Darkside has
his own opinions of the software we are using, and
does not hesitate to share. ♥ Geekboys are
love. Especially if you're a geek girl...

I could use a cold one.

Geeks spell things funny. Therefore, when a whole
bunch of stuff crashes, the non-geek writes up the
incident report as follows: "$DUDE was kicked out of a
$DEPARTMENT hot-sink program."

Brought a smile to my Saturday. I have perhaps
successfully started my routine, so I am not feeling
rushed. Saturdays are rarely rushed, but this is
something like peace. So, hooray.

The old lady with the gum mentioned at her annual
review that she liked that I was running jobs. She's
been here since forever. Go, me!
lonely, spock

I don't have time for a life.

The UnF spreadsheet is in beta. Glee!

Am at 38.something hours as of now. Tomorrow is at least another 7. I might be called to stay later.

Obso1337 Super was the head of my team, but as of Thursday, they all swapped around. Now Cinderella is. This is causing some chaos and confusion, as they're each used to their own jobs, and they switched.

There are sample issues to the point where we're calling this one poor guy over and over and over on a whole bunch of different phone numbers. Phone goons are instructed to dispose of the call before they get him if at all possible (he gets calls at XXX NN%-%%%%) and if they do get him, apologize. Sampling would be looking more into it if only their time were not $60/hour and more on weekends, and this is a bloody weekend. We are documenting.

Called Darkside. Eventually. Called him when I got off work; it was bad timing: they were watching a movie. I did my laundry and worked out for half an hour. Calling him back yielded bedtime; this weekend not good time to talk to Code Monkey. Next weekend, he might or might not have time to come over to see me for my birthday. Other events on Friday and Saturday take priority. Understandable, but disappointing. *BEST* friend. In universe. *pouts*
