Crashed out way early, woke up way earlier. First test of sleeptiems tea did not knock me the fuck over as hoped. Stayed awake and made myself busy with cleaning and such (and got music in my head).
If you're into Harry Potter and are feeling left out that you're not going to Azkatraz, may I point you to azkatrazathome
? There is ficcery and crack and panels, and everyone is so very nice!
Turns out that over 50% of my friendslist on LJ is syndicated feeds. If I sort, and read by personal first, comms next, and syndicated third, I can manage the list much, much better.
Eventually conked out for a bit of a nap, then got with the straightening and attempting to get my online life in order. This also included some chatter with eternal_vows
and a bit of stuff about writing exercises and so forth.
(Plot exercise favored by Lois McMaster Bujold: What's the worst possible thing you can do to your character? All right, go ahead and do that. Today we learned that perhaps killing your main character is not conducive to plot happening if he's supposed to be alive and such. General character/plot exercise that's spread throughout fandom after one person did it: Five Things. Take your character, take a general class of scenario (possibly one related to some things you know about them), name five times something like that has happened to them and go into detail. More stuff may fall out, including the plot you were looking for. Don't be afraid to spend some writing time on getting to know them in ways that you know you're never going to use in the finished piece. That's what writing exercises are for.) One of the Missions is to nag me to publication.
I feel cherished by the fish.
When are we going back to the Moon, Mama? Those National Geographic big picture books I read had information all about the moon and the trip to the moon and the trip back from the moon. (Mama said I was reading a little in my first year at Montessori school, and more in my second. I did kindergarten at home the next year, and then it was first grade and I was in chapter books.) It's been 40 years since we went. There hasn't been a trip in my whole lifetime. Can we go back now?
I'm experimenting with new things in the way of links and Twitter. Seems there are Delicious buttons for Firefox again (never leave me!!), and I'm seeing if I can do the thing where I put my important links in Delicious, export to Twitter, then import to LJ. (I may skip the middleman and hunt down a Delicious-to-LJ script somewhere.) There's a big job somewhere in going back through and adding the old links. Sometime when I have spare time and boredom both.
Need to perhaps code-dive for pingbacks and make inquiries about that fun question
about when is too late to turn it off if you realize you left it on by accident for something that shouldn't be pung.
Turns out Circle of Fire is now too big for just one Google doc. 512k HTML is not enough for a novel!
I am learning to love Facebook because people I know from my face to face life who I wouldn't otherwise see in a blogging kind of situation put out these tantalizing little windows on their life and experiences, and some of them are really kind of hilarious, like the crazy hamster guy update and the under-the-desk-being-a-cat (and yet productive at work) update.
Picked up teshiron
from the BART station. I will have to show him some of my fiction at some point. Hit Safeway. The pineapple corer is Not A Toy (snrk). The various herbs/spices in tubes are Not Lube
We chattered about this and that (if I see the person with the disturbing userpics commenting in a certain way to anyone, I'm calling the police first and Abuse second), retrieved bake-at-home pizza, and returned to much silliness with the pizza and cookie dough and the internet. Apparently, I am responsible for about 80%
of the madness that is Gentlemen's Quarterly (Motherfuckers) (Chapter One)
There was general chatter with Drew and Kat throughout the day.
Tomorrow, I will locate three items in the fragile boxes (well, one from the top of the thing), get some clothing upon myself, locate batteries, locate laptops, locate camera, locate GPS and shove the cinema's address in it, see if the Ravenclaw hair ribbons are findable, obtain crystallized pineapple for people who are NOT K, pick up K, head to the movie, locate our JD, watch the movie, then head off to the PARTY.
