iSilly.

I've started using iTunes recently. I'm not exactly sure why I started it, but I do like it immensely. I especially appreciate the random function. (iRiddle. Death is Random.)

On this iteration, we have, right in a row, an amusing series of song titles:

"We Have Explosive."
"No, You Don't."
"What If We Give It Away?"

(Those are by, respectively, the Future Sound of London, Nine Inch Nails, and R.E.M.)

And now, the Divination By iTunes list! Take your random iTunes and put it on random! And answer these questions with it!

What do you think of me, iTunes?
The Eagle Will Rise Again - The Alan Parsons Project
I am a hopeless romantic.

Will I have a happy life?
Interlude - J-Z and DJ Danger Mouse
If I remix everything that annoys me with the Beatles, I just might.

What do my friends really think of me?
Golotha Tenement Blues - Machines of Loving Grace
I am a duct-tape sword-guy, which means that the geeks think I'm pretty damn cool, and the normals think I'm an utter freak, and not in the good way. Also, I am the chosen one.

Do people secretly lust after me?
Losing My Religion - R.E.M.
Um, but at least that one makes no secret of it. Or... um... Let me guess, "Oh, no, I've said too much"? ... At this point, the obvious answer is not one that I'm going to walk right into, because I've done that too many times, and came out the worse for it. It's what I want to hear, though. (But that was just a dream.)

How can I make myself happy?
Tonight - Ozzy Ozbourne
Go walking in the rain and sing very loudly.

What should I do with my life?
Alternative, Baby - Reel Big Fish
Incomprehensibly throw myself after lost causes in a high-energy way.

Why must life be so full of pain?
Hypnotist of Ladies - They Might Be Giants
You won't remember why.

How can I maximize my pleasure during sex?
The Lord Is a Monkey - Butthole Surfers
Going sheerly from the title, it seems that anal sex with That Idiot Shawn should satisfy.
From the actual song, it seems that drugs, random violence, and sheer chaos are key. Um, iTunes, are you on crack?

Will I die happy?
Incense and Peppermints - Strawberry Alarm Clock
Either happy, surreal, or like Dumbledore. There's little to win, but nothing to lose.

Can you give me some advice?
The Ballad of You and Me and Pooneil - Jefferson Airplane
There are some people who you just need to have around, but you still don't know what happens after you die.

What do you think happiness is?
Skin Trade - Duran Duran
Exploitation and money.

The Eagle Will Rise Again
And I, could easily fall from grace
Then another would take my place
For the chance to behold your face
And the days, of my life are but grains of sand
As they fall from your open hand
At the call of the wind's command

Many words are spoken when there's nothing to say
They fall upon the ears of those who don't know the way
To read between the lines, that lead between the lines, that lead me to you
All that I ask you
Is, show me how to follow you and I'll obey
Teach me how to reach you I can't find my own way
Let me see the light, let me be the light

As the sun turns slowly around the sky
Till the shadow of night is high
The eagle will learn to fly

And the days of his life are but grains of sand
As they fall from your open hand
And vanish upon the land

Many words are spoken when there's nothing to say
They fall upon the ears of those who don't know the way
To read between the lines, by following the signs that can lead to you
But show me how to follow you and I'll obey
Teach me how to reach you I can't find my own way
Let me see the light, let me be the light
And so, with no warning, no last goodbye
In the dawn of the morning sky
The eagle will rise again

Losing My Religion
Life is bigger
It’s bigger than you
And you are not me
The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh no, I’ve said too much
I set it up

(chorus)
That’s me in the corner
That’s me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don’t know if I can do it
Oh no, I’ve said too much
I haven’t said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

Every whisper
Of every waking hour i’m
Choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt lost and blinded fool, fool
Oh no, I’ve said too much
I set it up
Consider this
Consider this
The hint of the century
Consider this
The slip that brought me
To my knees failed
What if all these fantasies
Come flailing around
Now I’ve said too much
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

But that was just a dream
That was just a dream

(repeat chorus)

But that was just a dream
Try, cry, why try?
That was just a dream
Just a dream, just a dream
Dream

Tonight
Now I'm back on the street again
It never rains unless it pours
Try to get back on my feet again
I hear the raging thunder as it roars

Chorus:
Tonight tonight is it just a rhapsody
Or am I right
Tonight tonight is it all a mystery
I just can't fight no more

I hear the questions surface in my mind
Of my mistakes that I have made
Times and places I have left behind
And am I ever going to make the grade

Chorus

As I beat my head against the wall
Running round in circles in vain
I'm feeling three feet tall
You don't understand I'm fading away

Don't want your pity or your sympathy
It isn't gonna prove a thing to me
Good intentions pave the way to hell
Don't you worry when you hear me sing

Chorus

"Alternative, Baby"
well, i see you up on stage and
i don't know just
what you're sayin', but you're my hero...
and a guy just kicked me in the head,
a little girl
just passed out dead, i'm in between a big jock
and a sweaty skinhead but i love you
whatever that means...but i don't wanna talk
to you, cause i know i'd just say some thing
stupid and i know you've got better things to do.

hey, little alternative girl
don't you wanna be my friend?
you know i'm singin' all my songs to you
it's all right if you don't understand.

maybe i shouldn't be so serious, tellin' you that
everything sucks cause i don't wanna bring
you down
but it never ever works out right, i'm gonna lose,
give up the fight, i won't get what i want
won't get anything but i love you...whatever
that means.
and they don't wanna talk to me cause they know
what i'll turn out to be, i said i was cool
but i can't lie to you (but i do)

hey, little alternative girl
don't you wanna be my friend?
you know i'm singin' all my songs to you
it's all right if you don't understand.

and i don't wanna start again cause i know
it'll be the same in the end
i didn't like it the first time anyway.

Hypnotist Of Ladies
He's a hypnotist, hypnotist of ladies
You're getting sleepy, very sleepy
He's a hypnotist, hypnotist of ladies
Never had a pocket watch, never counted backwards
You won't remember why you liked him

The Lord Is A Monkey
AHHHH...The Lord is a monkey
Thanksgiving's coming on the Fourth of July
In the form of a girl with a needle in her eye
Well she come from out west on a nickel's worth of gas
Got her mind on her money and a dope up her ass
Outside of Phoenix where the gimmick broke down
f**ked that cracker for his rig and she was out of that town.
HA HA HA HAA
Well she was a hare krishne in the ashwam bed
She was sellin' (?) Had a funky-ass head
Well she put food in my mouth and she threw me on the bed
And she cut off my balls and she sewed 'em to my head
Well she's headin' back east in a 57 Caddy
Got her mind on her money and a dope for her daddy
Well I met her on the street where she beat me like a fool
Then she got me accepted to an ivy league school
Well I really did good but it's kickin' my ass
I lost 38 pounds and my eye turned to glass
Well she's looking pretty good first week in July
She's got a dope up her ass and a needle in her eye
Thanksgivings coming on the Fourth of July
In the form of a girl with a needle in her eye
Well she come from out west on a nickel's worth of gas
Got her mind on her money and a dope up her ass

Ballad Of You & Me & Pooneil
If you were a bird and you lived very high,
You'd lean on the wind when the breeze came by,
Say to the wind as it took you away,
"That's where I wanted to go today;"
And I do know that I need to have you around;
And I do know that I need to have you around;
Love like a mountain springtime,
Flashing through the rivers of my mind;
It's what I feel for you;

You and me go walking south
And we see all the world around us,
The colors blind my eyes and my mind to all but you,
And I do know that I need to have you around,
And I do, I do know that I need to have you around.

I have a house where I can go
When there's too many people around me;
I can sit and watch all the people
Down below goin' by me;
Halfway down the stairs is a stair
Where I sit and think about you and me;
But I wonder will the sun still see all the people goin' by?
Will the moon still hang in the sky when I die,
When I die, when I'm high, when I die?

If you were a cloud and you sailed up there,
You sail on water as blue as air,
You'd see me here in the fields and say,
"Doesn't the sky look green today?"
But I wonder will the sun still see all the people goin' by?
Will the moon still hang in the sky when I die,
When I die, when I'm high, when I die, die, die, die, die?

"Skin Trade"
Working on the weekend, baby.
She's working all through the night.
A jump into the deep end gave her
The evidence she required.
Takes five; she's got pearls.
Don't fake it when it comes to making money.
So she smiles. But that's cruel.
If you know what she thinks
If you knew what she was after.

Sometimes she wonders,
And she laughs in her frustration.

[CHORUS]
Would someone please explain
The reason for this strange behaviour.
In exploitation's name
We must be working for the Skin Trade.

Doctors of the revolution gave us
The medicine we desired.
Besides being absolutely painless
It's a question of compromise.
They got steel.
So cool to get angry at the weekend
And go back to school.
So big deal; it's what rules.
When it comes to making money,
Say yes, please; thank you.

Sometimes you wonder, and ask yourself the question.

[CHORUS (Repeated)]

I know the answer, but I'm asking you the question.

[CHORUS (Repeat for FADE)]
Gone away, gone ahead,
Echoes roll unanswered.
Empty, open, dusty, dead.
Why have all the Weyrfolk fled?

Where have dragons gone together
Leaving weyrs to wind and weather,
Setting herdbeasts free of tether;
Gone, our safeguards, gone, but whither?

Have they flown to some new weyr
Where cruel Threads some others fear?
Are they worlds away from here?
Why, oh why the empty weyr?
