So just as I was making ready to hit the shower, the infamous Fuzzy Modem called me, wanting me to check on show times for movies in Fairbanks. Good gods. He has no internet access at home, see. As he said, if he quit smoking, he could get a T-1 line ... and this is the sound of him inhaling. *eyeroll*

Crossover, his comic that I do literary consulting for, is evidently rolling along merrily. Haven't had a chance to glance at it for a few days, but his art is usually good, the plot arc is strong, and one can only hope that his dialog choices remain on the right side of cheesy to make the story sing. In brief, it's the tale of a clash of civilizations from a world of night and technology and a world of day and magic, with more than just two civilizations. It starts out with Night, and some seriously gory infighting.

I'm giving it another week or so to get a picture of how it's coming together before I start putting it through serious shredding for future improvement.

While I'm pimping comics, theferrett has started up something or other that's also in the beginning, getting-to-know-you stages.
Gone away, gone ahead,
Echoes roll unanswered.
Empty, open, dusty, dead.
Why have all the Weyrfolk fled?

Where have dragons gone together
Leaving weyrs to wind and weather,
Setting herdbeasts free of tether;
Gone, our safeguards, gone, but whither?

Have they flown to some new weyr
Where cruel Threads some others fear?
Are they worlds away from here?
Why, oh why the empty weyr?
