I Once Was Lost, But Now I'm Found

My old high school buddy Savil Googled me, found the journal with my legal full name on it, and e-mailed the address on that one, even though the journal hasn't been updated particularly recently. She sure did find me! I called her back, accidentally woke up her mom (her mom loves me and didn't nuke me from orbit) and we spent a happy hour or so BSing.

We'd lost track just after Shawn got married, so I got her up to speed on the thing with River, the thing with BJ, the start of college and meeting Sis and Darkside and all that fun stuff, and then featured highlights like Shrimpy's love spell, the teddy bear head incident, figment0, and the cupboards falling off my ceiling. She's becoming an entertainment lawyer.

It was so good to get back in touch with her. (boojum, you might remember her -- she was my black belt lesbian singer witch friend who moved after my sophomore year.)

Ahh, Google. So much love for Google.
Gone away, gone ahead,
Echoes roll unanswered.
Empty, open, dusty, dead.
Why have all the Weyrfolk fled?

Where have dragons gone together
Leaving weyrs to wind and weather,
Setting herdbeasts free of tether;
Gone, our safeguards, gone, but whither?

Have they flown to some new weyr
Where cruel Threads some others fear?
Are they worlds away from here?
Why, oh why the empty weyr?
