This year, I haven't heard one word or another from Darkside (or his mom, and Darkside's Mom is the one who says what goes) about the holiday. Since I'm not about to presume a standing invitation (though I'm fairly sure I would have one), and most specifically to the point, they do spend some random holidays out of town with assorted relatives, unless Darkside's mom gets back to me with something that fits my schedule (at this late date) I am most likely not going over there.
Because I am a sensible Lunatic on the matter of Darkside and his mother, I did make a social poke to check in on the proceedings, in the form of an e-mail sent to the Darkside, declaring myself up for some Death Note on the upcoming holiday weekend. Figuring out the right phrasing for "I'd love to come over, holiday-wise, if you guys want me there, but I don't want to presume, and I do want it to be your idea, not mine, if you do want me" was a tricky one. I eventually settled for the simple and truthful, as well as (amazingly) tactful: "I don't know if your mom will want to claim me for Thanksgiving this year or not; that's up to her. My schedule's pretty open, although there may be some insane writing buddy plans."
I'd expect that if anything majorly involving me were to be happening, that I'd have heard back by now. I haven't, so I think it's safe to say that my plans will remain as they are.
For the rest of the weekend, there's a potential whole-day write-in on Friday [and, duh!
