mff. work.

Came in to work to hack at the DB. There's stuff due by Monday. There's insanity.
Ran into Barking Phone Goon while I was walking here; she greeted me cordially
enough. That was unexpected -- the running into her part. She's one to explode
rather than having a slow burn and then exploding.

Woo. I am dizzy! \o/ This is from spending too much time with my head in the
database and not enough time running around like a manic something-or-other looking
for refills on my tea. By the time my tea is either gone or cold, it's time for

I wasted a chunk of time talking with someone about the UI and some bugs in the
thing. I was supposed to be doing pure coding, not support. But she did point out a
bug, which I guess justifies it, but I didn't want to be doing support today. Alas!

Dizzy is no fun, yo.

One of the reasons I adore Darkside beyond all reason is because he provides sanity
and a second geek perspective on all this. He finds the holes in my technical
vision, and I find holes in his. He also has standards higher than mine in some
areas, and that keeps me on the straight and narrow in some cases. ♥

I got in around 1:20, which can bend either way depending on whether it was closer
to 1:22 or 1:24. I'll see what time I get out before making a call on that; I wanna
be accurate. Break is the series of run-for-tea-and-restroom moments plus banging
the skull against the internets in frustration. TUBES.

At least I have my strawberries and tea.

The e-mail I sent Friday night very late got through, good. I was worried that the
alias wasn't working, since I sent it from the webmail form. Whee, things that work.
Notice: when you're not doing your job on purpose, and you're asking with great
sarcasm, "What are they going to do, fire me?" ... the answer just might be 'yes'.
Hasn't happened yet, but this person is walking closer and closer to the line, and
might step over it at some point in the near future. Rather, they've walked past any
number of lines, and are approaching larger and larger lines.

http://azurelunatic.livejournal.com/5093461.html was a previous incident.
http://azurelunatic.livejournal.com/2006/05/07/ may have some interesting content;
who knows. 3/3/06 = some scariness; 2/16/06 = barking. So much easier to look it up
than to go through LJ when the originals are probably both locked and untagged.

Tea ftw. I need to replace the can of blackberry, since that's scarily popular.
Also, the vanilla caramel tea that smelled Just Right should probably come into my
life again. ♥

Last night was the first time in a long time that I didn't grab onto the lightsaber
that serves me instead of a teddy bear. I held rocks in both hands instead. That
speaks a lot about what kind of day I had, and how very much my touch-quota was
actually filled. Yay.
Gone away, gone ahead,
Echoes roll unanswered.
Empty, open, dusty, dead.
Why have all the Weyrfolk fled?

Where have dragons gone together
Leaving weyrs to wind and weather,
Setting herdbeasts free of tether;
Gone, our safeguards, gone, but whither?

Have they flown to some new weyr
Where cruel Threads some others fear?
Are they worlds away from here?
Why, oh why the empty weyr?
